With the permission and able assistance of the Pastor, Father Kremer, a branch of the Catholic Order of Foresters was started in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish on May 5, 1930. The Foresters is one of the oldest Catholic Fraternal Societies, and offers all types of insurance for all members of the family. The members held the attitude “United We Stand But Individually We Fall,” and started the Forester principles to promote “Friendship, Unity, and True Christian Charity” among their members. These ideas have developed into a great fraternal organization, for the greater honor and glory of God, and for the benefit of our home and of our country. They also made the Foresters a leading Catholic Family Legal Reserve Fraternal Life Insurance Society in the country. Donations to the Church, charity, Catholic education, and to disaster areas have exceeded 16 million dollars during the past ninety years of existence.
In the past forty-three years, Kremer Court supervised amateur shows, religious, educational, and athletic activities, and Christmas Parties for juvenile members and their families. Card parties, socials, picnics, bowling teams, baseball teams, meetings, conventions, and dances were held for the adult members. Visitation of sick members, helping the members and assisting the family in times of sorrow, are other fraternal features practiced by the Foresters.
The present officers are Eugene V. Beran-President, Robert F. Reitz-Vice president, Martin J. Kress-Financial Secretary, Robert J. Chunat-Recording Secretary and John S. Bistak-Treasurer. Regular monthly meetings are held in our Parish Center the first Wednesday of each month.
